Searching relevant information.
A thorough search of relevant background scientific information can offer a strong support and give an edge to audiovisual projects. An obvious prerequisite for documentary productions, especially if focused on technology, science and nature, scientific accuracy is maybe not enjoying the same high ranking when it comes to fictional works. Yet it could get you good ratings by scientific communities, if your production deals with issues of their concern and this might give your story an edge for being credible and get the real feel whatever the core theme maybe.

Make your audience feel and sense.
Science is not only about data and natural laws. Scientific information can provide you instrumental support in conveying sensations to your audience. Synesthetic factors enhance the perception of a feeling or a sensation, even the most physical one, and it can overcome the sensorial limitation that audiovisual stimuli cannot provide to an audience (pain or pleasure, smells and perfumes, sense of depths or heights, altered states of mind, altered perceptions…).

Authoring.
A subject and a story line can be provided and developed upon your input for a theme of your interest. Scientific background in support can provide material for virtually unlimited subjects, both for documentary and fictional productions. Journeys and explorations, medical conditions, mystical experiences (Near Death Experiences, memories and perceptions from states of coma), research pathways in pharmaceutical and medical research, history of Science, animal behaviour… Nature, in essence, is a never ending source of inspiration and subjects to work on. There’s enough scientific literature providing support, suggestions, ideas for fictional and documentary production. Not all paths have been unbeaten so far, but in a creative context, such as audiovisual arts, it all resides in the way, means, language and style by which a story is told.
