The Marshlands of Fucecchio

A preliminary analysis of a geographical area, stretching among the tuscan provinces of Florence, Pistoia and Pisa, along the water flow of Arno river. A short portrait of the environmental administrative status quo is the starting point of a proposal leading to possible scenarios of re-evaluation and sustainable integration in the twenty three municipalities for environmental preservation and promotion of a touristic value.

One of the most peculiar natural environments of Tuscany, probably among the most underrated and neglected by the masses of tourists and their usual wandering circuits and whereabouts, it is a particular ecosystem, or a complex of ecosystems that hosts particular flora and fauna due to its varying levels of water during the yearly seasons.

Once essential part of a rather interesting network of fluvial transportation waterways for the local agricultural economy, it is now a protected area and a hunting ground during the allowed seasons, two realities often in open contrast but somehow both linked by their dependence on the delicate balance of geo-climatic environment and its inhabiting life.

A hidden paradise for passionate photographers in a landscape that induces to indulge to memories and atmospheres beautifully pairing with melodies and arias of the best Puccini you know.
